Link manages the presale and sale process using a tried and tested, step-by-step methodology. Here’s a summary of the checklist:

  1. Preparation – this is central to the success of every sale. We assist you in re-casting your P&L and determining the vendors true discretionary earnings.
  2. Valuation – established formulas are fine, but with Link and Paul Helliwell’s proven experience, defining the true value is more than simply following a methodology.
  3. Information memorandum – LINK prepare a comprehensive document that is both accurate and honestly represents the business and its benefits.
  4. Identifying buyers – LINK has a large database of qualified purchasers. Paul Helliwell is able to approach prospective buyers without divulging sensitive information.
  5. Marketing programme – a relevant marketing strategy is designed and closely monitored throughout the process to ensure the most effective outcome.
  6. Qualifying genuine buyers – on average, for every 10 prospective purchasers only 1 is a genuine candidate. LINK maintain confidentiality when separating interested parties from genuine prospects.
  7. Sale & purchase agreement – after the purchaser has received the Information Memorandum, LINK and Paul Helliwell co-ordinate all supplementary information by liaising with the business owner or financial/legal team.
  8. Due Dilligence – signing the Sale and Purchase Agreement doesn’t mean the end of the sale. Due Diligence is triggered and depending on the size or complexity of business involved, or complexity involved this can take 5 – 15 days or up-to 3 months. This is all managed by LINK and Paul Helliwell.
  9. Settlement – once the conditions of the agreement are settled, solicitors will complete documents and a stocktake will take place. LINK and Paul Helliwell will assist by providing a final checklist.
